Dashwood Outfitting black bear hunts are provided in combination with our hunting packages. All bear hunts are stumble-on, or via spot and stalk method and are not baited. During your moose or caribou hunt there is an excellent opportunity to harvest a Newfoundland Black Bear.
The North American Black Bear is the best known and most widespread of North American Black Bears. The adult black bear stands over 3 feet at the shoulders, with a smooth and short-haired black coat. Genetics and low hunting pressure makes size of Newfoundland Black Bears larger then their North American cousins, they and can weigh over 500 lbs. There is estimated to be between 6,000 to 10,000 bears in our province.
